According to foreign media reports, on December 5, auto industry veteran Sandy Munro shared an interview with Tesla CEO Musk after the Cybertruck delivery event. In the interview, Musk revealed some new details about the $25,000 affordable electric car plan, including that Tesla will first build the car at its plant in Austin, Texas.
First, Musk said Tesla "has made quite a bit of progress" in developing the car, adding that he reviews production line plans on a weekly basis.
He also said in an interview that the first production line of the $25,000 affordable electric car will be located in the Texas Gigafactory.
Musk responded that the Mexico plant would be Tesla's second to produce the car.
Musk also said that Tesla will also eventually build the car at the Berlin Gigafactory, so the Berlin Gigafactory will be Tesla's third or fourth factory to have a production line for the car.
As for why Tesla is taking the lead in building an affordable electric car at the Texas plant, Musk said it would take too long to build the Mexican plant, indicating that Tesla may want to start producing the car before the Mexican plant is completed.
Musk also noted that Tesla's production line for affordable electric vehicles will be unlike anything people have seen before, and it could even be said that it will "blow people away."
"The manufacturing revolution that this car represents is going to amaze people. This is unlike any car production people have ever seen."
Musk also said that the production system is the most interesting part of the company's plans for affordable electric vehicles, noting that it would be a huge advance over existing technology.
"This will be far ahead of the production technology of any car factory on the planet," he added.
